CPH in the Media: August 2017 Roundup

UGA College of Public Health news and media mentions for the month of August 2017:

  • Nivita Sharma, who is seeking a global health undergraduate minor through the College’s Global Health Institute, spent the summer in Fiji interning at Diabetes Fiji and distributing medical supplies through EqualMed, her non-profit organization. Read her story in the Fiji Sun.
  • An Op-Ed by Dr. Andrea Swartzendruber, assistant professor in epidemiology and biostatistics, was published on the AJC’s Get Schooled Blog. It discussed the risks of abstinence-only sex education programs.
  • CPH’s most recent initiatives in undergraduate education were featured in the Aug. 10 edition of the ASPPH Friday Letter.
  • In a Fox News report addressing the impacts of a potential nuclear attack from North Korea, Newt Gingrich referenced a 2007 study by Dr. Cham Dallas and Dr. William Bell in the Center for Mass Destruction Defense (now the Institute for Disaster Management) at UGA. The paper ranked No. 1 in March 2007, and No. 3 for the year of 2007 on Biomedcentral.com.
