The University of Georgia requires advising appointments prior to registration for each semester. At the College of Public Health, our academic advisors in the CPH Office of Academic Affairs assist students in planning class schedules, registering for courses, and becoming familiar with their program of study.

Drop-In Hours for Fall 2020

The CPH Advising Office will be holding virtual drop-in hours during Fall 2020.  Each advisor will be available for 2 hours per week to answer quick questions only (typically 5-10 minutes).  If this is your first time connecting with an advisor or if you anticipate a longer discussion, you should make an appointment in SAGE rather than attend drop-ins.   We will be using Zoom sessions with a waiting room feature.  Please be patient as your advisor will allow you in the session as soon as the student(s) in front of you is finished.

Who is my CPH advisor?

All students in a public health major are assigned a staff advisor in the UGA advising system, SAGE. You can find your “Primary Advisor” listed in your network.

How do I make an advising appointment?

Each semester your advisor will let you know when you can log into SAGE and schedule your appointment with them.

To schedule an appointment with your advisor, go to sage.uga.edu and log in with your MyID and password.  Once you’re logged in, click the “My Success Network” option in the left menu, find your primary advisor, and  then click “Schedule an Appointment.”

If you encounter difficulties or your advisor does not appear to have any open appointments, please email your advisor. Students who need to cancel or reschedule an appointment must do so 24 hours in advance.

Remote Advising for Fall 2020

As the University is taking precautions to ensure the health of our students, faculty and staff, the College of Public Health Office of Undergraduate Advising will be using Microsoft Teams to conduct virtual appointments.  We will not be able to meet with students for in-person appointments.

To use Microsoft Teams, you will need access to a computer or smart device, an internet connection, and your UGA Email. If you are using a smart device, you will need to download the Microsoft Teams App. If you do not have access to any of these components, please contact your advisor via email. We will work with you to find a solution.

Prior to your appointment, you will receive an email from your advisor with a website link to join the Microsoft Teams meeting. Please click on the link when you are ready to join the meeting during your scheduled time. You can download instructions explaining how to join a meeting here.  The Microsoft Teams virtual meeting can be in video, audio, or messaging form. We will complete your Advisement Form during the meeting, and we will send you a copy of the form in the messages feature.

**If you need to reach your advisor or the college for support, please use your UGA email and send an email to our offices.   At this time, this will be the fastest way to receive a response.

For current information on UGA’s Pandemic Response Plan, make sure to check your UGA email often and visit uga.edu/coronavirus.

What happens when I miss an appointment?

The CPH Advising Office has a No Show policy.   You are considered a “No Show” if you are more than 15 minutes late to your scheduled appointment, you do not show up to your scheduled appointment, or you cancel your appointment less than 24 hours in advance of your scheduled time. Students are allowed one “No Show” per semester. After the second “No Show”, you will no longer be able to make an appointment with your advisor until registration has started.

If you are sick, have an emergency on the day of your appointment, or are otherwise unable to keep your appointment please let your advisor know as opposed to just not showing up for your appointment.  Communication is always important.

Where are CPH advisement offices located?

The offices of our CPH advisors are located in the Ramsey Student Center on Main Campus. Please reference the CPH Advising Center contact list for office locations.
