2026 Ramsey Lecture with Paige Alexander

11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Richard B. Russell Special Collections Library

The College of Public Health and the School of Public and International Affairs co-host the 2026 Ramsey Lecture with Paige Alexander as part of the University’s Fall 2026 Signature Lecture Series. This lecture will be held at the Richard B. Russell Special Collections Libraries Auditorium Room 271 located at 300 South Hull Street. Register for the event here.

Paige Alexander serves as chief executive officer of The Carter Center, a nonprofit organization founded in 1982 by former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and former First Lady Rosalynn Carter to advance peace and health worldwide. Alexander has strengthened the Center’s core peace and health programs and led the organization in new directions, including adding programs to address: the global mental health crisis; political polarization in the US; and the impact of climate change on global peace and public health. Previously, Alexander worked at the United States Agency for International Development, IREX, the European Cooperative for Rural Development, Project Liberty at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, and was a consultant to institutions including the C.S. Mott Foundation, the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, and the Open Society Institute in Prague.

The Ramsey Lecture Series honors the University of Georgia’s most generous individual benefactor, the late Bernard B. Ramsey (BS ’37), long-time chairman of the board of Merrill Lynch. His lifetime gifts totaled more than $44 million and included more than $23 million to fund the Foundation Fellowship program, the University’s most prestigious scholarship, in addition to numerous endowed chairs, programs, and classrooms across campus. His contributions also helped fund construction of a student center in the Terry College of Business, a concert hall in the Performing Arts Center and the Butts-Mehre Athletic Heritage Hall.

The Ramsey Lecture Series is funded by an endowment of academic programs in the Ramsey Center from Bernard B. Ramsey. Through Mr. Ramsey’s generosity, internationally respected scholars have been brought to UGA each year.

Requests for accommodations for those with disabilities should be made as soon as possible but at least seven days prior to the scheduled lecture. To request accommodation, please contact Lena Smith ([email protected]).
