Combining Genetics and Quantum Chemistry for Unknown Compound ID in Metabolomics
This week’s guest speaker is: Arthur Edison, Ph.D., Professor and GRA Eminent Scholar, Departments of Genetics and Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, University of Georgia
The seminar will take place on Friday, September 18, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. online via Zoom. Zoom Meeting ID: 916 4798 2916 Passcode: 8030
Speaker Bio: Dr. Edison is a professor in the Departments of Genetics and Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at the University of Georgia. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin Madison in 1993 Dr. Edison was the founding PI and Director of the Southeast Center for Integrated Metabolomics (SECIM), one of 6 comprehensive metabolomics centers funded by the NIH Common Fund to deliver metabolomics services to users. His lab focuses on metabolites sensitive to both environmental and genetic factors closely related to phenotype. A faculty member in both the Institute of Bioinformatics and the Complex Carbohydrate Research Center, the tools used in his research include NMR, mass spec facilities, and bioinformatics.
