A career in industry: What it is like to transition from academic research to industry research?
Guest speaker: J. Isaac Godfroy III, Ph.D., Process Engineer, Athersys, Inc.
The seminar will take place Friday, Sept. 20 at 11:10 a.m. in room 1501 of Miller Plant Science Building on UGA’s South Campus. Everyone is welcome to attend!
About the speaker: Dr. Godfroy is a Process Engineer at Athersys, Inc., a clinical-stage biotechnology company that is focused in the field of regenerative medicine on developing a patented and proprietary stem cell product. He obtained his B.S. degree from the University of Notre Dame Chemical and Biological Engineering where he researched the dielectrophoretic behavior of liposomes and nanoparticles. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Colorado, Boulder in Chemical and Biological Engineering with a research focus on protein-protein interactions of the innate immune system. After his Ph.D. he worked as a Cell Culture Scientist at the National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease, Vaccine Research Center, Vaccine Production Program Laboratory developing commercial processes for monoclonal antibodies and recombinant proteins for HIV vaccine therapies.
