Healthcare Administration & Epidemiology Combine Forces During the Pandemic

This week’s guest speaker: Adam Gobin, MPH, MBA, Assistant Vice President, WellStar Health System

The seminar will take place on Friday, Sept. 17, 2021 at 12:20 p.m. on Zoom. (NOTE: Please not the meeting location change. Please reach out to Andreas Handel for the Zoom link.)

Speaker Bio: Adam Gobin was born in Trinidad and Tobago and attended high school in Mexico City. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a double major in Biology and Spanish in 2006. He then pursued a Master’s in Public Health (MPH) degree at the University of Georgia and graduated in 2008. Adam joined The Emory Clinic’s Management Development Program (MDP) after getting his MPH and spent 7 years in leadership roles in The Emory Clinic’s Patient Financial Services Department.

He pursued an MBA with an IT concentration at Georgia Tech while working at Emory and then joined athenahealth where he focused 3.5 years of his career dedicated to healthcare IT, patient engagement, platform solution design (FHIR, API, and HL7), and revenue cycle for athenahealth’s largest clients – Adventist, Community Health Systems, and Christus Physician Group.

He joined Wellstar Health System in January 2020 as the Assistant Vice President of Wellstar Medical Group’s business office. His current scope in the role includes oversight over pre-certification, charge capture, claims processing, accounts receivable & denial management, payment posting, refunds, and payment variances.

He recently moved to West Midtown, Atlanta to be a few miles away from the Mercedes Benz stadium because of his love for soccer and Atlanta United. When he is not watching soccer and cooking, he’s hiking or hanging out with his two huskies, Arya and Drogo.
