Hospital Incident Command System Overview
This week’s guest speaker is: Ross Spears, Ph.D., U.S. Public Health Service, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
Speaker Biography: Captain Ross Spears, of the U.S. Public Health Service, is currently serving on Temporary Duty with the Indian Health Service in Pine Ridge, SD. He works as a Quality Consult, as well as Planning Section Chief for the Hospital Incident Command System, with the mission of helping the local hospital obtain Medicare/Medicaid Accreditation. Captain Spears received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from The University of Alabama. He worked for 14 years as an environmental chemist in the mining industry. He obtained his commission with the US Public Health Service in 2002. He has been at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for 15 years. He has served as an Emergency Response Planner and has been deployed in numerous emergency efforts since 2004. He is also a mentor, safety officer, and has served abroad as a logistician.
