Effects of the Affordable Care Act on Cancer Care and Outcomes

Speaker Bio: Xuesong Han, PhD is an epidemiologist and health services researcher in the Surveillance & Health Equity Science department of the American Cancer Society (ACS), where she leads research related to the Affordable Care Act. Dr. Han’s research examines the effects of health insurance coverage and health policies on access to care and outcomes across the cancer continuum. Her research also contributes to the understanding of disparities in cancer survivorship including financial hardship, employment changes, psychosocial distress, and health-related quality of life. Prior to joining the American Cancer Society, Dr. Han earned her PhD in Epidemiology & Public Health from Yale University and completed the American Institute for Cancer Research Marilyn Gentry Fellowship at the Gillings School of Global Public Health, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Han holds an adjunct professorship at the Rollins School of Public Health, Emory University. She is a founding member of the China Health Policy and Management Society (CHPAMS) and serves on the editorial board for the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.
