The Association of Schools & Programs of Public Health (ASPPH) has launched a new framework around healthy aging.

Lisa Renzi-Hammond, PhD
Titled Healthy Longevity: A Framework for Academic Public Health, this framework was developed with the support of experts from across the country, including University of Georgia College of Public Health’s Lisa Renzi-Hammond, director of the Institute of Gerontology and co-director of the Cognitive Aging Research and Education (CARE) Center.
The framework is an important step in transforming academic public health research, education, practice and policy around healthy aging. The focus is not just on extending lifespan, but also health span, in order to build more a more equitable and age-inclusive public health future.
“At the UGA College of Public Health, we have had a thriving curriculum in gerontology and healthy longevity for years, led by our incredible Institute of Gerontology faculty and affiliate faculty,” said Renzi-Hammond. “This opportunity to boost gerontological education throughout all the other schools and programs in public health has been incredibly rewarding. I have deeply enjoyed getting to know and work with fellow faculty from across the nation to bring this report to fruition.”
