Justin Ingels named Assistant Dean

Ingels to continue evaluation, strategic initiatives and assessment

The University of Georgia College of Public Health is pleased to announce Justin Ingels as the new Assistant Dean for Strategic Initiatives and Accreditation.

Dr. Justin Ingels

“As we enter into the next phase of strategic planning and gear up for reaccreditation for the College of Public Health, we will make choices that shape our academic programs and our contribution to public health,” said Dean Marsha Davis. “Dr. Ingels’ expertise in data systems and analysis will help us understand where our work is having the greatest effect and where we need to improve. He brings sound judgment and the ability to engage people in carrying our plans forward. This appointment recognizes his contributions to the college and my upmost confidence in his leadership.”

As assistant dean, Ingels will build on the progress made during his tenure as coordinator of evaluation, strategic initiatives and assessment, and most recently as director of strategic initiatives and accreditation.

“Accreditation and strategic planning are two of the many evaluation-related tasks our College engages in,” Ingels said. “My primary goal through this position is to continue to find ways to support our collective efforts that range from ensuring we offer the right mix of courses and opportunities for our students to evaluating our academic programs to identifying opportunities in engaging with communities all over Georgia and beyond.”

In this role, he will continue to lead the development, implementation and assessment of the college’s strategic plan by evaluating public health trends and gathering input from across the college. This strategic plan will serve as a roadmap for the college’s growth into 2031 and ensure these efforts are aligned with the university’s Forward Together strategic plan.

“I see strategic planning as a powerful tool for bringing people together around a common purpose,” Ingels said. “I’m looking forward to engaging faculty, staff, students, and our partners in shaping our future. It’s crucial that we identify our opportunities for growth, align our efforts with our mission, and position the College to make an even greater impact.”

Ingels will also guide data collection efforts, assist departments and research institutes with strategic goal setting and foster collaborative relationships across the university and public health sector. Additionally, he will oversee accreditation-related assessment activities and reporting required for institutional reports and the Council on Education in Public Health (CEPH).
