The Global Health Work Group, also called Epidemiology in Action (EIA), is a group of population scientists who study HIV and tuberculosis, and more recently SARS-CoV-2, to understand the transmission, epidemiology, treatment, prevention, and ethical aspects of these global infectious diseases.

EIA comprises faculty with expertise in epidemiology, biostatistics, social network analysis, environmental health science, implementation science, microbiology, geography, and bioinformatics, among other disciplines. EIA meets weekly to present and discuss ongoing analysis of study data, design and plan new research projects, and provide input to both manuscripts and grants that are written by working group members. EIA views students as an integral part of the working group and engages them through weekly meetings and individual mentoring.
