Varsha Kottamasu

Undergraduate Ambassador, Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion (BSHP)

Hi! I’m Varsha, a fourth-year Health Promotion student also pursuing a minor in Communications Studies and a Global Health Certificate from Johns Creek, Georgia.

Growing up, I’ve always been interested in healthcare, but wasn’t sure what specific field I wanted to pursue. I originally came to UGA as undecided about my major, and during orientation, I joined the College of Public Health on a whim. However, that decision has been the best I’ve made since I got to UGA.

Health Promotion is a major that teaches healthcare in both a scientific and social perspective, and can be applied to virtually any health‐related graduate program. It has opened up many doors for me, such as being able to serve in a global health organization, conduct public health research, and pursue internship opportunities. I hope to use this experience after graduation as I plan to pursue a Master of Public Health with a concentration in healthcare management or healthcare administration, and would ultimately work within a hospital setting.
