Varsha Kottamasu

Undergraduate Ambassador

Undergraduate Ambassador, Bachelor of Science (BS) in Health Promotion

Hi! I am Varsha, a third year Health Promotion student also pursuing a minor in Communications Studies and a Global Health Certificate. Growing up, I’ve always been interested in healthcare, but wasn’t sure what specific field I wanted to pursue. I originally came to UGA as undecided about my major, and during orientation, I joined the College of Public Health on a whim. However, that decision has been the best I’ve made since I got to UGA.

Health Promotion is a major that teaches healthcare in both a scientific and social perspective, and can be applied to virtually any health-related graduate program. It has opened up many doors for me, such as being able to serve in a global health organization, conduct public health research, and volunteer at Piedmont Athens Regional. I hope to use this experience after graduation as I plan to pursue my Masters in Public Health with a concentration in healthcare management or healthcare administration, and would ultimately want to work in a hospital setting.

The College of Public Health at UGA offers a variety of opportunities for a wide range of students both inside the classroom and outside. Especially for those who enter undergrad unsure of what they want to pursue, public health would be a great choice as it offers courses and resources for many different tracks. If you have any questions, definitely do not hesitate to contact me – I would love to help!
