Commit to Public Health
The support of our alumni and friends plays a vital role in shaping the College’s future. Your gifts directly impact the educational experiences of students by funding scholarships, fellowships, endowed professorships, international study for students and faculty, and state-of-the-art research facilities.
Private financial support provides the margin of excellence that distinguishes good universities from great ones. Direct public support accounts for less than 40 percent of UGA’s annual operating budget, so we rely on gifts from alumni and friends to support students, faculty, facilities, alumni programs and other critical needs in the College. Annual gifts to the College of Public Health Support Fund are unrestricted and meet the College’s greatest need.
Become a Mentor.
Helping the next generation win is an amazing feeling. Find an opening on your calendar and change the life of a student. But with today’s busy schedules, it can be hard to know where to start. In Fall 2019, the University of Georgia launched the UGA Mentor Program, the first comprehensive mentorship initiative.
The UGA Mentor Program, housed in the UGA Career Center, serves both students and alumni. Each participant commits to only one to two hours per month for a 16-week match. The program website hosts a messaging platform that protects participants’ personal information, and once a mentorship relationship is established, students and mentors can communicate in person or from wherever they are via text message, email or phone.
