This week’s speaker: Erik R. Svendsen, Ph.D., MS, Director of the Division of Environmental Health Science and Practice, National Center for Environmental Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Dr. Erik Svendsen is a Division Director at Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. He specializes in Environmental and Disaster Epidemiology, predominantly focused on environmentally induced pulmonary illnesses. He received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Liberty University in 1994. He received his Master of Science in Environmental Engineering Technology from the New York Institute of Technology in 1996. He went on to receive his Ph.D from the University of Iowa in Preventative Medicine and Environmental Health in 2001. Dr. Svenson has served as a Research Assistant Professor at the University of South Carolina, as an Associate Professor at Tulane University, and as a Professor and Division Leader at the Medical University of South Carolina.
