Innovate Research Discussion Series – Seeding Efficient Large Scale Public Health Interventions in Diverse Spatial Social Networks
The next CPH Innovate Research Discussion Series seminar will be held Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. (in person) in Room 200 of the Rhodes Hall on the HSC and (virtually) via Zoom. The guest speaker Yilan Xu, Ph.D., associate professor, Department of Agricultural and Consumer Economics, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The title of her seminar is “Seeding Efficient Large Scale Public Health Interventions in Diverse Spatial Social Networks”

Dr. Yilan Xu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Agricultural and Consumer Economics at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. Her fields of interest include consumer economics and finance, urban economics, and environmental economics. Her current research explores the social network connections between regions, such as friendship, social media information, travel flows, transportation, trade, and atmospheric movement, and how these social networks mediate the spillover effects of regional events. Dr. Xu has published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Journal of Consumer Affairs, and Social Science & Medicine. She is the President (2023 2024) of the American Council on Consumer Interests (ACCI).
