UGA's Annual Suicide Prevention Walk benefits the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), a nonprofit national organization aimed at preventing and understanding suicide through research, education and advocacy. Suicide is the second leading cause of death for college-aged students. Suicide is in the top ten leading causes of death for all age groups, and takes the lives of about 42,773 Americans each year.
