Dr. Tamora Callands’ research and expertise focus on understanding and ameliorating sexual and reproductive health problems and interpersonal violence among adolescents and young adults in low-resource settings. In 2013, Dr. Callands was awarded an NIH/Fogarty International Center International Research Scientist Development Award aimed at developing and implementing an intervention aimed at promoting mental and sexual health among young pregnant women in Liberia. This work is ongoing and will be completed in Summer 2018. Dr. Callands recently received a UGA Faculty Research Grant that will focus on using social technology to build a support system for pregnant migrant farmers in rural communities in Georgia.
