Global Health Seminar Fall Series: TRAC UGA-Emory Visiting Professor Dr. Leo Martinez
Dr. Leo Martinez will present a seminar titled, “Targeted Mass Tuberculosis Screening in Global Settings: Experiences from China and Brazil” at the Global Health Seminar Fall Series. The event will take place September 26 from 4-5 p.m. in 150 Wright Hall and on Zoom. Refreshments are available at 3:45 p.m. for the in-person event.
Dr. Martinez is a global infectious disease epidemiologist who uses epidemiological and quantitative approaches to study vulnerable populations at high-risk of tuberculosis. He studies early-life risk factors for pediatric tuberculosis in high-burden settings, tuberculosis transmission dynamics in high-risk populations (e.g., prisoners, persons living with HIV or diabetes), and the relationship between tuberculosis and non-communicable diseases.
Dr. Martinez is currently an assistant professor at the Boston University. He received his PhD in Epidemiology at the University of Georgia’s College of Public Health.
