UGA College of Public Health news and media mentions for the month of January 2019:

A 2014 study in the American Journal of Public Health by gerontology researcher Dr. Kerstin Emerson and collaborator Dr. Jayani Jayawardhana was referenced in a MDLinx article about the new loneliness epidemic affecting adults.

Dr. Mark Ebell, a professor of epidemiology, provided comments to Reuters Health on a recent study published in JAMA Internal Medicine that suggests invasive follow-up tests examining abnormalities found with lung cancer screening may lead to more complications and extra healthcare costs than doctors previously thought. Dr. Andrea Swartzendruber, an assistant professor of epidemiology and biostatistics, was quoted by Tonic/Vice in an article which explored recent efforts by crisis pregnancy centers to offer more medical services so they can bill insurers and become eligible for federal family planning grants.
