HSC Student Food Pantry

The HSC Student Food Pantry provides non-perishable & frozen food items to UGA CPH students struggling with food insecurity.

The Food Pantry is located in Rhodes Hall on the Health Sciences Campus and is supported by volunteers of the student organization, Graduate Scholars of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, the CPH Staff Advisory Council, and donations from students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends of the College of Public Health.

Services

The HSC Food Pantry provides a variety of non-perishable items such as canned soup, vegetables, breakfast items, canned meats, and snacks. We recently acquired a freezer that allows us to provide items like fruits, vegetables, pizza, pastas, and a variety of meals and sides.

Location

The HSC Food Pantry is located on the Garden Level of Rhodes Hall in the Student Lounge. Help yourself to what you need.  Hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; or 24/7 for students with Rhodes Hall access.

Donate

Want to help? You can support the HSC Food Pantry with a monetary gift to the “Epidemiology and Biostatistics Fund”. Make sure to note “HSC Food Pantry” in the special instructions. Make your donation here → https://t.uga.edu/6KC .

Want to make a food donation? Monthly food drives for the HSC Food Pantry are underway at the College of Public Health. We accept donation of non-perishable food in jars, cans and sealed packages. We recommend sauces, soups, beans, vegetables in cans or jars, pastas, honey, peanut butter, candy, boxed juices, life-long milk, coconut cream or fish in oil. Personal hygiene items are appreciation as well. Donation boxes can be found in B.S. Miller Hall, Wright Hall and Rhodes Hall on the HSC, or items can also be delivered to your department’s administrative representative. Frozen food items are also welcome, but please deliver these items directly to Rhodes Hall.

In Feb. 2021, CPH Alumni Working Group member Kim Metcalf (BSEH ’93, MS ’96) donated a freezer to the food pantry allowing it to expand its offerings beyond shelf-stable items, while other members of the AWG donated start-up funds needed to fill the freezer with lots of goodies.
