Action Pack Families starts walking club

UGA’s Action Pack Families program in Colquitt County recently made the local news with the announcement of a new walking club that will meet four times a week in Moultrie, Ga.’s new Main Street Park. The goal of the walking program is to teach elementary school children about nutrition and physical activity and enable them to share what they learn at home to help develop healthy habits for the whole family.

“Action Pack Families” is a USDA-funded program developed by the UGA’s College of Public Health Office of Outreach and Engagement, College of Family and Consumer Sciences, and Cooperative Extension. The $2.5 million, five-year grant was awarded to the College of Public Health to study childhood obesity in Colquitt County.
