Cost Effectiveness in Health and Medicine will provide students with an introduction to several methods for conducting economic evaluation of public health programs: programmatic cost analysis, cost of illness analysis, cost-effectiveness analysis, and cost-utility analysis. Each method is discussed in turn, with a special emphasis on how outcomes are defined, practical application of the methods, policy implications, and the uses and misuses of the methods in the public health arena.
